James Update:

I just got a call from James. He has made it down to the States okay and dropped his load. He was able to pick up a DVD player and a power inverter so he now can charge his shaver :-).

James has to depart to northern Michigan and then back to Canada with his load.

It sounds as if he has mucho miles to go, but he figures he will be home for the long weekend.

Our plans (Sam & I) for the weekend are that we are thinking of heading to the lake on Saturday. Hopefully Craig wants to come with us so I can show him the ropes on setting up/closing down the trailer. Mom and Fred are most likely going to come visit us on Sunday for a BBQ steak supper. We'll close up the trailer and head for home on Monday (Labour Day).

After James left Weirdale and moved to Hanley he took training to be a long haul trucker. This was early May of 2006. He then was very fortunate and found a fellow that was looking for a new driver and he was hired on. He now works for Wind River 2000 out of Saskatoon. They predominately haul over dimensional loads and haul into/out of the States to Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta & BC.

At present James was to be travelling in northern Michigan picking up a loaded and taking it to Winnipeg. He then had to return State side and pick up another load. I'm not sure where this one is for though.

He certainly has been able to see some country as he has been through Michigan, Ohio, Minnesota, Iowa, Wyoming, North/South Dakota so far. He has only had the opportunity to travel to BC once (Radium Hot Springs), however, he has had numerous loads into Alberta (Calgary, Edmonton, Grand Prairie, etc).

Lots of miles, but then that is how he gets paid (by the mile).
