With 8 years military time and 30 years as a Telecommunicator with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police I have hung up my headset to take part in the quieter side of civilian life. Small town Saskatchewan is where I now reside. Definitely quieter and a whole lot less stressful.

Thanks Clare. I've never met you personally, however, I did speak to you once in awhile on the radio/phone when you were stationed at Saskatoon Detachment thanks to our amalgamation of OCCs.
After reading your endeavours in Arctic Bay I certainly 'tip the hat' to you and the other folks that have 'moved north'. Darn hard way make a living with the expenses you have to juggle.
I did call home in Inuvik, NWT from 1968-1972 and then again from 1974-75. Of course I had a few side trips to Alert however, as I was in the military while in Alert, the costs were realistic. In Inuvik (still in the military) we did partially use the serves of the Hudson Bay store, etc and found the prices extremely high but manageable.
From your posts on your blog, you certainly have brought me up todate on the economy in the North now. Us folks in the South just have no idea of the costs of everything.
